Who is your favorite Saint? St. Peter

What high school did you attend? Faith High School

What year did you enter the seminary? I entered the seminary in January 2010.

What did you do prior to seminary entrance?

Studied math education and psychology at BHSU

What influenced your decision to enter the seminary?

God provided me with great friends and role models to help me along the way. They showed me what it means to follow God’s will and how it leads to fulfillment and happiness. A daily rosary didn’t hurt either.

Who did you talk to about your calling?

The first person I talked to was Father Brian Christensen, but I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the friendship and encouragement from Father Marcin.

Why are you pursuing the possibility of a vocation to the priesthood?

I want to completely give myself to God and live my life for Him and His Church. Since I feel that God is calling me to the priesthood, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

What did your family and friends think about your decision to enter the seminary?

My mom was especially happy about my decision. We went to church every Sunday, no matter what, for as long as I can remember. The rest of my family was very proud for the most part and very supportive. The decision was about the last thing, friends or family, expected. When I told my friends, they were very surprised, but, for the most part, were excited and supportive of my decision.

How familiar were you with the seminary before applying?

I had made it out for quite a few information weekends with Father Brian so I was somewhat familiar with what it was like. The biggest thing I was aware of was the awesome fraternity and prayer here at the seminary. On the visitation weekends it was obvious that the seminarians were very close and cared greatly for one another.

What do you like about the seminary the most?

The thing I like most about the seminary is the formation and fraternity. The conferences we attend that are given by the Rector, spiritual formators, and Bishop are a great learning experience. The friendships formed at the seminary are truly genuine as well. Having brothers in Christ that are encouraging but also challenging is truly a gift and a grace from God.

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?

My advice would be to never ignore the movements of your heart to follow God wherever he may lead you. Sometimes things are challenging and difficult, but through that struggle a greater person is always formed. When you follow God, no matter how hard it may be, he will always provide. And don’t forget that the Mary is your spiritual mother; don’t be afraid to turn to her when in need.
