World Day for Consecrated Life

February 5, 2012

The Presentation of the Lord is celebrated on February 2. This is also the World Day for Consecrated Life, celebrated in the US on the following Sunday, February 5, 2012. Just as Jesus was presented in the temple, so have many men and women followed him by consecrating their lives to him, as religious sisters and brothers, monks and nuns, religious priests, hermits, consecrated virgins, in secular institutes. Let us remember to pray for all consecrated men and women at this time. Send a card to someone you know who is consecrated this week, thanking them for the gift of themselves given to Christ and to His body, the Church, or invite them for dinner. Pray for more vocations to consecrated life – and consider a vocation to priesthood or consecrated life!
